Mystery Reader...It's Amazing Ana!

This week our Mystery Reader was Amazing Ana, Nice Neida's big sister! Amazing Ana read a wonderful Valentine story entitled Mouse In Love. The student's loved the story & Neida was surprised. Mrs. J was very proud of Ana's reading. Amazing Ana is a former member of our multiage. Afterwards we made "spin art" painted Valentine hearts. We glued the hearts on our Valentine sacks. Each one turned out unique...just like each one of us!!!

Spin Art Hearts: 1. Cut out a heart shape out of construction paper (we used craft scissors to add a decorative edge.) 2. place your heart in the bottom of a kitchen "salad spinner" 3. blob on your favorite colors of paint using plastic spoons 4. put the lid on and spin! 5. Take off the lid and check out the final product. (final spin art heart pics coming soon!)

100 Days In The Multiage!

Today we also celebrated 100 days in the Multiage! It was the 100th day of school. We did several activities relating to the number 100. We used our math skills to figure out how to divide 100 M&M's between our 20 students. After we figured that out we divided them up & put them on top of our celebration cake. It was a yummy treat! Today we also met Mrs. J's mom. She stayed and celebrated with us.
Groundhog Day Hooray!

Today we celebrated Groundhog Day by beginning a science unit over shadows. We made groundhog replicas and glued them on tongue depressors. At 12:30 we took them outside to see if they would have shadows. The sun was behind the clouds & the groundhogs DID NOT have shadows. We checked on them again at 2:00 & the sun was out from behind the clouds. We saw shadows everywhere!!! The groundhogs all had shadows, the trees, & even us! Afterwards, we journaled our observations on paper.
