Our multiage family wants to give a big “way to go” to Spectacular Sophia (1st place) & Delightful Danna (2nd place) our art show winners! Sophia’s masterpiece, “A Day In the Country” placed third "all around" in her age division at the county art show this week. I thought all of the pieces of art were wonderfully creative! The children worked very hard on their pictures! 
Is it spring or still winter? With this weather who can tell! This is going to be a short week for us with conferences on Thursday evening & Friday morning. We will continue with our studies of the Solar System, antonyms, counting change, word problems, & leveled subtraction. Conference notes & enrollment for 2009-2010 are currently due. I am also accepting Jenks Aquarium (April 17th) field trip money this week. In addition Mrs. Frazier (music teacher) sent home a note about purchasing advanced DVD copies of our Multiage Music Program (Two Of A Kind) which will be performed on Tuesday, April 13th. I will be gone on Thursday to take my daughter to Tulsa. She has a morning appointment to get her braces off & a late afternoon appointment to get her retainer on. I will be “booking it back” to be here for the conferences that begin at 6:00 :)If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Last Friday Mrs. Chris Berry (Spectacular Sophia’s mom) came to surprise us with a humorous story entitled A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee. The story was about man who wanted to go camping in a small RV & the adventures he faced. He had high hopes of traveling far away but ended up camping in his own yard. It was sooo cute & funny! Chris also brought yummy “camping treats” made with marshmallows. It was a wonderful camping adventure for all!!!!
Happy Monday! What about that snow? This week we will continue our science unit on the Solar System & space. We will research our favorite planets & write reports on them. We will work on our art that will be displayed for the art show. We will focus on antonyms in language arts. During math we will continue counting change, telling time, “prefect” leveled subtraction (with & w/out regrouping), & word problems. Several of our students will be attending the Hulbert Track Meet on Monday. Have a great week!!
Terry & Connie Garrett graciously took Buddy Bear to cheer on the Tigers at the State tournament at OU. Buddy had a woderful time cheering on the boys team. We wanted to thank the Garrett's for taking him on the trip & returning him home safely. He had a great time!!!

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a restful break, I sure did! Today begins the final nine weeks (44 days) of school & with that a packed calendar. This week we will begin a science unit on the Solar System & space. We will focus on synonyms/antonyms in language arts. During math we will count change, work on telling time, work on symmetry, & begin word problems. It iw going to be a wonderful week in the Multiage!!!
We had four special guest readers. Thank you Mrs. Melanie Bolding (Mrs. Jones' friend & retired teacher), Mrs. Vanzant (our vice principal), Mrs. Cotrill (Board of Education), Mrs. Provenzano (our special Spanish interpreter), & Mrs. Medearis (former Literacy Lab now NSU Optometry) for taking time out of your busy schedules to read to us. We loved the stories you read, learning more about each of you and your important jobs. We appreciate the jobs you do! 
This is our last full week until Spring Break! This week we will continue our look into the “workings” of Dr. Seuss. If you sent Dr. Seuss books to school, they will come home with your child this Friday. We will be delving deeper into contractions, as well as, beginning synonyms/antonyms during language arts. During math we will continue with money, time, subtraction, & begin symmetry. We will also participate in another online math project this week that deals with estimation, sorting, counting, comparing, graphing, tallying, & reporting. Welcome March! Can you believe it?…March! This week we will be celebrating Read Across America by studying the writings of Dr. Seuss. We will have daily educational integrated learning activities using his creations. We will write daily reflections using some of his books, use his name to make and break words, & have several guest readers that will share their favorite books with us. During math we will continue counting money amounts, work on time to the quarter hour, & perfect our leveled subtraction. It is going to be a fun week of learning in the Multiage!!
This is going to be a great week of learning! We will kick off the week with a short unit over President’s Day. We will revisit time, money,& base 10’s during math. During Language Arts we will be making contractions. We will end the week with our school wide GE Model School Celebration starting promptly at 1:00 pm. Each grade has a short presentation during the assembly. Parents are invited to attend & celebrate our accomplishment! Important leaders from the community have been invited too. Last week our class received the Greenwood Attendance “Traveling” Trophy! Our classroom had the best attendance during the month of January, with only 5 absences!!! We will keep it until March. Mrs. J is so proud of us!!
Last week we had Valentine Heart Candy Math! It was fun and educational! We sorted, graphed, counted, compared, answered math problems, created word problems, & much more. We ate the hearts after we finished. 
Spin Art Hearts: 1. Cut out a heart shape out of construction paper (we used craft scissors to add a decorative edge.) 2. place your heart in the bottom of a kitchen "salad spinner" 3. blob on your favorite colors of paint using plastic spoons 4. put the lid on and spin! 5. Take off the lid and check out the final product. (final spin art heart pics coming soon!)
We love the making & breaking word lessons that we do each day. We use letter cards or plastic letter tiles to make given words. We orally use the words in a sentence, isolate sounds, & use our phonics knowledge to make new words from given words. It really helps us use our brains!
