100 Days In The Multiage!
Today we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Last week we decorated paper sacks with the number 100 & took them home. We filled them with 100 items & brought them back to school to share with our friends. There was gum, suckers, peppermints, legos, Laffy Taffy, pennies, beads, & much more. We compared the things that we brought & weighed them on a balance scaled. We weighed things, looking for the item that weighed the most (100 Laffy Taffy) & the least (100 Legos). Did you know that 100 Laffy Taffy weighs more than 100 Smarties? Also 100 Legos weighs less than 100 pencil topper erasers? It was SO fun counting, sorting, & weighing all of the items!! We had 20 students present today. We sorted the items by 20's. It worked out that everyone received 5 of everything to take home!! Later we used our "smart brains" to make a prediction ..."If we flipped a penny 100 times, which would come up more often - heads or tails. After making predictions we conducted our math experiment, tallying the flips & results. Afterwards we used the same idea using one die. The question..."Which number on the die will come up the most times." We tallied those results as well. It was a day full of 100 math!

Seeing The World Through Buddy Bear's Eyes
Buddy is our classroom bear. He was given to Mrs. J as a Valentine present in 1993 by a very special student Ryan Humphrey. He started going home on weekends with her student's & began traveling the world. He has been to many exciting homes & places. He has met every child that Mrs. Jones has ever taught. He has been to birthday parties, class trips, trips to different states & countries, sat on the Great Wall of China, & met Micky Mouse! He is currently 15 years old. We will be documenting his trips below.
