A Peek At Our Week August 18-22

Welcome parents to another great year! We have 6 returning brilliant “Multiagers” & 12 new wonderful additions. This week we will begin our new reading series, sort words (looking for similar “chunks” in given words), & recitations from our poetry notebooks. We have been working on daily journals in our Journal Notebooks. The students are focusing on writing a complete sentence(s). In addition the students draw a picture about their writing. I meet with each child during Writer's Workshop (daily) to look over their writings. We will also begin math this week by focusing on the number 5, starting on leveled addition & subtraction concepts, & graphing. We will continue with new team building activities to unite the two groups of students. During Social Studies we will “dive” into the history behind the United States Flag. We will have picture day on Thursday the 21st, get to know our "Star of the Week" Exquisite Erin, & celebrate Beaming Brooke's birthday. It should be a busy week of learning, friendship, & fun!!! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.

BUDDY BEAR'S BLOG
Buddy is our classroom bear. He was given to Mrs. J as a Valentine present in 1993 by a very special student Ryan Humphrey. He started going home on weekends with her student's & began traveling the world. He has been to many exciting homes & places. He has met every child that Mrs. Jones has ever taught. He has been to birthday parties, class trips, trips to different states & countries, sat on the Great Wall of China, & met Micky Mouse! He is currently 15 years old. We will be documenting his trips below.
