We participated in another online project. We learned & revisited several concepts by participating in this project: measuring circumference, dictionary skills/lexicons, estimation, counting by 1's & 10's, making groups of 10's, the life cycle of the pumpkin, and much more. We used yarn to estimate the circumference of our pumpkin. Our pumpkin weighed 4.6 pounds. Mrs. J picked it out of the pumpkin patch during her yearly family trip to Livesay Orchard. We hypothesized whether our pumpkin would sink or float when put into water. We were surprised to learn that it floated!! We each estimated the number of seeds that we thought our pumpkin contained. We wrote down our estimatations. Mrs. J cut open the pumpkin and helped us scoop out the seeds, we worked in cooperative groups seperating the seeds from the pulp. We counted out seeds putting them into groups of 10. We then counted all of the seeds and were amazed to find that there were 741!!! We tasted some toasted pumpkin seeds and they were yummy!! We loved this project and can't wait for our next one that begins in December. You can also check out our posted results at http://www.jenuinetech.com/Projects/ps2008/ps2008results.htm.

Seeing The World Through Buddy Bear's Eyes
Buddy is our classroom bear. He was given to Mrs. J as a Valentine present in 1993 by a very special student Ryan Humphrey. He started going home on weekends with her student's & began traveling the world. He has been to many exciting homes & places. He has met every child that Mrs. Jones has ever taught. He has been to birthday parties, class trips, trips to different states & countries, sat on the Great Wall of China, & met Micky Mouse! He is currently 15 years old. We will be documenting his trips below.
