What's In Your Journal?

We begin every morning with journal writing. We pick our own topic: what we did last night, what we are doing today, exciting events, etc. By journaling we have learned: every sentence begins with a capital letter, punctuation goes at the end of every sentence, to space our words, & to independently use a dictionary to look up unknown words. We love to bring our journals to our big carpet. We make two standing groups: an inner circle & outer circle. Mrs. J plays music & the inside circle begins to walk around. When she stops the music, we stop & read our journal writing to the closest person in the outer circle. As the game continues the outer circle might walk & share. It is AWESOME & fun to listen to what our friends wrote about.

Mrs. Jones' Junior Geniuses,
I have been checking my emails, and I found a website that Mrs. Jones' sent me telling me about all the great things you are doing in class. It looks like you had a great time on your field trip. I found some intersting ideas for my classroom. One of the things that I really like is the way you share your creative writing. Yesterday I saw you writing in your journals, I wish I had been there to see you share with your friends. I'm going to choose a couple days a week where we do the same thing. Thank you for putting such great information on your blog for others to learn from.

He started going home on weekends with her student's & began traveling the world. He has been to many exciting homes & places. He has met every child that Mrs. Jones has ever taught. He has been to birthday parties, class trips, trips to different states & countries, sat on the Great Wall of China, & met Micky Mouse! He is currently 15 years old. We will be documenting his trips below.
